Ola is a mobility platform and ride-hailing company. It is currently serving across 250 countries including Australia, India, New Zealand, and the UK. The company connects customers to drivers offering mobility solutions. They have a fleet of vehicles that include bikes, auto-rickshaws, metered taxis, and cabs. Ola has been successfully registered over 1.5 million driver-partners. Ola’s core mobility offering in India is supplemented by its electric-vehicle arm, Ola Electric.

 

They also acquired India’s largest public transportation app, Ridlr and has also made investments in Vogo, a dockless scooter sharing solution. Ola Financial Services also provides micro-insurance and credit-led payments.

Ola’s Recent GST Evasion Probe

 

The GST arm recently revealed that the outstanding tax liability of Ola is Rs 300 crores.

 

The Government in January 2021 nominated 28 non-official members to be on the National Start-up Advisory Council. The council was set-up to advise the Centre on measures needed to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country. The council is chaired by the Commerce and Industry Minister. Ola Cabs CEO Bhavish Aggarwal is also one of the nominated members to be a part of the council. The major function of these members will be to represent various stakeholders such as founders of successful startups, veterans who have grown and scaled companies in India, persons capable of representing the interest of investors into startups, persons capable of representing interests of incubators and accelerators, representatives of associations of stakeholders of startups and of industry associations.
